Hello! This week we had a lot of stuff happen. but i cant remember it all so heres a brief summary :)
We went to the temple on Tuesday which was SICK and it was my 5 month mark and hermana bliss's 9 month mark! We popped the bubbly (martinellis) and had a good day. wednesday through friday is just a blur. haha. we taught lessons, we contacted and met some really good people, found a new trailer park. good times.
in preparation for noche de las americas on saturday, we went and made pupusas with an el salvadorian member with one of our investigators, veronica lopez! they needed to make HUNDREDS for the party and so we went and helped and needless to say, im a pupusa expert now. they were delicious too. we had them with meat and cheese. i know dad is so proud.....
then, we had LA NOCHE DE LAS AMERICAS and it was SO GOOD. first of all, like over 300 people showed up. it was AWESOMEEEE. and we had.. wait for it.... 16 INVESTIGATORS SHOW UP. we had the Lopez family, the Reynoso family (the ones who went to the halloween party), and the Rodriguez family, Jazmine Landeros (and her whole fam, because they danced in the Mexico dance and her mom made all the skirts for them), and a recent convert's dad. it was sooo gooood. there were 9 countries represented (honduras, costa rica, USA (lolz), argentina, uruguay, peru, guatemala, el salvador, and mexico). there was a table for each country with stuff from there and FOOD and it was so good. i didnt get to eat too much food because i was too stressed about all the people we had there ahahha but the little food i did have was delicious. there were also dances from most of the countries, and us sister missionaries danced in the guatemalan dance. hahahhaha. we got our traditional guatemalan dresses and it was sooo funny. everyone loved it. to say the least. the amount of comments we got on it in church the next day was rediculous. hahha. but all in all, the activity was a SUCCESS! thats probably an understatement. muchisimo exito!
on sunday, we had another BIG DAY with the Living Christ devotional! we basically went to church then went up to ogden because we had to be there super early to practice and everything. we werent really expecting anyone to show up from our ward, but we had a recent convert family, the Pavons, there, with one of our investigators, Yuritzi! it was such a nice surprise!!! it turned out really good (there were people crying, so yeah) and another BIG SUCCESS!
the Rodriguez's went to church on sunday, but the english ward :---) lolz THEY DONT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH!! they just have a friend in that ward so they went with her, but we recently discovered that Roberto has TWO SISTERS IN THE ELLISON PARK WARD. so were going to use that to our ADVANTAGE and get them to our ward. they're so great though.
but all in all, this week was super good. im hoping i get to stay in layton for a little while longer, because theres so much work to do here!! the ward's great and the people are great.
love,
hermana murphy
